GUM CARE / PERIODONTICS
The periodontium is the set of supporting tissues that connect the tooth to the jawbone.
Periodontitis (or loosening) is the inflammation of these tissues, gradually destroying the bone and creating spaces between the tooth and the gum (periodontal pockets).
Symptoms may be:
Tooth sensitivity
Bleeding
The appearance of space between the teeth
Bad breath
The appearance of dental abscesses
Tooth mobility
When we have the impression that the gum has descended along the teeth, it is because we have lost the same height of bone below, and if we allow this to evolve we may be forced to remove teeth in good health but which move and are no longer properly maintained by the bone and gum tissue.
I think I suffer from loosening, what to do?
We are pleased to inform you that today there are effective means of preventing loosening (periodontitis). Indeed, we know at the present time that there are subjects more at risk than others of suffering from loosening. These subjects most often exhibit one or more of the following 6 main characteristics:
Presence of a family history of periodontitis
Presence of stress accompanied by anxiety
Excessive tobacco consumption
Medical condition where the subject is susceptible to infections
Resistance to tooth decay
History of severe gum infection (gingivitis)
Today there is a simple program capable of significantly reducing the risk of seeing the teeth come loose.
Our team is trained and has the technical platform to allow you to benefit from our prevention program which will allow members of your family, your friends, your loved ones to keep their teeth healthy and beautiful, all their life. It is much more pleasant, more comfortable and less expensive to keep your teeth than to lose them.
How is the periodontal treatment going?
To stop periodontitis from progressing, we will first do a detailed examination of your mouth to determine the precise nature and extent of this infection. We will then be able to give you the treatment suited to your case. You will have to carry out local care in your mouth with a special brushing using antiseptics with, if necessary, the intake of an antibiotic. After about a month, you will start to regain the sensation of having a healthy and pleasant mouth with the majority of the symptoms disappearing.
Once the symptoms have stabilized, we will then be able to eliminate the tartar which interferes with the healing of the periodontium. We will do it with modern means without damaging the tooth. This part of the treatment is the longest and generally requires between 3 and 5 one-hour sessions spaced about a month apart. At the end of the treatment, we can eventually replace the missing teeth with excellent conditions for long-term success.
Gum disease is unfortunately very common, more than 80% of adults suffer from it during their life. Too few are cared for.
Untreated periodontitis, in addition to the risk of losing teeth, can worsen general health, unbalance diabetes, cause premature birth, cause cardiovascular diseases, etc.
