Numerous studies show that the bone sticks to the surface of the implant, which explains its long-term success. This technique is performed under strict aseptic conditions. Once the intervention has been carried out, we must respect a variable healing time (3 to 6 months) depending on the bone quality and the prosthetic project. This delay period allows for osteointegration of the implant.

 

Under certain conditions, a temporary prosthesis can be placed directly on the implant on the day of surgery. After this healing phase we can then start the prosthetic phase which consists of hanging a prosthesis on the implants. 

 

Does it hurt ?

 

NO. Contrary to popular belief, the placement of an implant is not painful and much less annoying than a tooth extraction. The procedure takes place under local anesthesia, as for cavities. A simple pain killer and an ice pack placed for 30 minutes after the procedure are enough to limit the gene. It is a benign intervention that has been well mastered for years by dentists who have followed the appropriate training.

 

Is there a limit of age ?

 

Dental implants are intended for a majority of people from 18 years of age and of all ages, provided they have good volume and good bone quality. The periodontium, in other words the gum, must also be free of any infection or inflammation, with periodontal treatment if necessary . All this will be the subject of a prior study.
